At least 5 hurt in LPG tank explosion at Manila laundry shop


At least five persons were hurt after an LPG tank exploded at a laundry shop at Barangay 708 in Manila.

According to Nico Waje's report on "State of the Nation", the blast happened at past 7 p.m. on Monday.

Firemen immediately arrived and put out the fire by 7:34 p.m.

The laundry shop owner said she had LPG tanks delivered in the afternoon.

The shop's dryer uses two LPG tanks it was discovered that only one had been connected.

One had a line dangling and may have caused the leak.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating the incident and has yet to issue a statement.

The victims are being treated at a hospital.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page and reported by radio dzBB, the De La Salle University (DLSU) said that while the explosion did not reach its campus, "some students in the vicinity received minor injuries."

"They were immediately given first aid and medical attention," it said.

"The DLSU administration is monitoring the situation and will release updates on the matter," it added.—NB, GMA Integrated News
