80 train cars for LRT-1 Cavite extension have leaks

Most of the train cars which have been delivered for the LRT-1  Cavite Extension have been found to have leaks.

According to Tina Panganiban Perez's report on "24 Oras", out of the 120 train cars delivered in 2021, 80 were found to be leaking.

The train cars cost some P12 billion and P6 billion have been paid.

The supplier has been asked to fix the defective train cars.

“Pagka-umulan, baka pati sa loob ng mga bagon ay uulan din,"  Department of Transportation (DOTr) undersecretary Cesar Chavez said.

(When the rains come, there might even be a downpour inside the train cars.)

"Nangyari po ito sa panahon ng pandemic na hindi nakapagpadala ng ating pamahalaan para sa factory acceptance test,” he added.

(This happened during the pandemic and our government wasn't able to send people for the factory acceptance test.)

Asked who is responsible for the defective train cars, the DOTr said it was the department’s former leadership.

GMA Integrated News is still asking for their comment.
