GMA Network employees clean up river

Volunteerism is a key part of GMA’s corporate culture. Since 2006, its employees have shared their time and resources through a wide range of social responsibility programs.

In celebration of World Water Day, GMA G.I.V.E.S. (Give, Interact, Volunteer, Educate, Serve), the Network’s corps of employee-volunteers, trooped to Alabang-Cupang riverbank in Muntinlupa City on March 18 for Maynilad’s river cleanup drive. This river flows to Laguna Lake, which is one of the sources of Maynilad's water supply for the southern part of its concession area.

Clean ups remove solid waste from the river, preventing flood and disease outbreaks in the community. This also improves the oxygen level in the water, addresses odor issues, and reduces  biological contaminants.

This activity is part of GMA and Maynilad’s longstanding partnership for the environment. Mindful of the importance of water, both organizations have collaborated for clean up drives, planting of mangrove propagules, and reforesting watersheds. —GMA Network
