Senior citizen staying in PITX for 3 weeks after being robbed sent home, given assistance

The 61-year-old senior citizen who had been staying at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) for almost three weeks now after his mobile phone and bag were stolen was finally sent home and given assistance, an official of the terminal said Tuesday.

“Napauwi na po natin siya sa Batangas, tinulungan po siya ng PITX management. ‘Yung sa PNP, nasuportahan naman din ‘yung reklamo niya regarding sa theft incident. Nabigyan po siya ng cash assistance ng ating anonymous supporters,” PITX corporate affairs officer Kolyn Calbasa said in a Dobol B TV interview.

(We were able to send him back to Batangas, he was given assistance by the PITX management. As for the PNP, his complaint regarding the theft incident was also accommodated. He was given cash assistance by our anonymous supporters.)

Calbasa added that Antonio Merilo was able to receive back the amount of P15,000 which he lost after his bag was stolen.

She said the PITX management is also endorsing Merilo, a former private car driver, to different transport companies, as he looks for a job in Metro Manila.

Merilo, a resident of Batangas City, said the robbery took place on March 14 at the terminal.

He fell asleep and left his phone charging, but it was already gone, along with his bag, when he woke up.

Merilo said someone only lent him the P15,000 to pay for his supposed rent.

Calbasa said the suspect could not be identified in the CCTV capture as he was wearing a mask.

The police continue with the investigation on the robbery incident.

Following the incident, Calbasa said the PITX has heightened its security, while the PNP deployed some of its personnel for augmentation.—Jamil Santos/AOL, GMA Integrated News
