PDEA seizes over P2M worth of ketamine in Pasig op

Authorities on Thursday night seized 424 grams of ketamine worth P2.12 million in a controlled delivery operation in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Friday.

According to the PDEA, the claimant was arrested during the operation and will face a complaint for importing dangerous drugs or violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The parcel containing the illegal drugs came from Poland and arrived at the Port of Clark on May 14 declared as rose candles, the PDEA said.

The PDEA said a series of tests indicated the presence of illegal drugs inside the parcel, which prompted the authorities to launch the controlled delivery operation.

Ketamine is a dangerous drug classified as hallucinogens, which can sedate, incapacitate, and cause short term memory loss, according to the PDEA.

The operation was conducted by personnel from PDEA Central Luzon, PDEA Clark Airport Interdiction Unit, and Bureau of Customs Port of Clark.  —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
