Free MRT3, LRT2 rides for solo parents on April 20

Single parents may avail of free rides on Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT2) on April 20, Saturday, in celebration of Solo Parents' Day.

In separate advisories, MRT3 and LRT2 said the free rides will be during peak hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Those who will avail the free ride only need to show their valid solo parent’s ID or solo parent certificate of eligibility to station personnel.

Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways at MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino said they salute the solo parents who sacrifice their lives for their children.

“Hangad po namin na sa aming libreng sakay ay mapasaya namin sila sa kanilang espesyal na araw. Nawa po ay maipadama namin sa lahat ng solo parents ang aming paghanga at pagpapahalaga sa kanilang mga sakripisyo," she said.

The management of Light Rail Transit Authority said they expect the free rides to give inspiration to solo parents who untiringly supports their family.

“Tayo po sa LRTA, batid natin yung bigat ng responsibilidad ng mga solo parent. Kayanaman sa pagdiriwang na ito, sana maiparamdam ng LRTA ang aming paghanga at pasasalamat sa inyo sa pamamagitan po ng handog naming libreng sakay,” LRTA Administrator Atty.
