Cash reward for mosquitoes, larvae offered in Mandaluyong barangay to combat dengue
A barangay in Mandaluyong City offered cash reward for mosquitoes or larvae caught or killed in response to the increasing dengue cases in the area.
The local government of Barangay Addition Hills prepared an aquarium where the mosquitos and larvae will be stored and killed.
According to the barangay charmain, the reward is offered to residents amid the increasing number of dengue cases in their area since the start of 2025.
The reward is one peso for every five mosquitoes, the barangay said, according to a report on 24 Oras on Monday.
The Department of Health has also been reminding the public to practice the 5S strategy against dengue: Search and destroy breeding places; Secure self-protection; Seek early consultation; Support fogging or spraying in hotspot areas, especially during the rainy season; and Sustain hydration.
Infectious disease expert Dr. Rontgene Solante on Sunday reminded the public not to hesitate to go to the hospital if they are experiencing dengue symptoms such as high fever, rashes, vomiting, stomach pains, among others. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
