Robredo body to arrive in Manila Friday morning, to lie in state in Malacañang

Students and employees of the Department of Education will line the route to be taken by the convoy of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo when it arrives from Naga City Friday morning. The government's Official Gazette, in an update at 9 p.m. Thursday, said the route from the airport will include Andrews Avenue, Old Airport Road, Roxas Boulevard, Padre Burgos Street, Finance Road, Ayala Bridge, and Solano Street, before the body arrives in Malacañang where it will lie in state until Sunday morning. Arrival honors at Malacañang will be led by President Aquino and will include a 19-gun salute. The public viewing will be on Friday evening and during the day on Saturday. Robredo's body will be flown back to Naga on Sunday morning. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday. The DepEd said the students will start lining the route from Villamor Air Base to Malacañan Palace at 10 a.m. Friday.   "At 10 a.m. Friday, students and DepEd employees will line the route from Villamor Airbase to Malacañan to give honor to the late Sec. Jesse," it said on its Twitter account.   However, the DepEd also clarified there is no announcement on suspension of classes for Friday.   Robredo died in a plane crash off Masbate last Aug. 18 while en route from Cebu to Naga. The plane's pilot and co-pilot also died while Robredo's aide survived.   Alternate routes   Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority suggested alternate routes for motorists, including:   - Taft Avenue and Osmeña Highway - Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Macapagal Boulevard   — ELR/HS, GMA News
