The bodies of four foreigners who died in the wake of Mayon Volcano's steam-driven explosion in Albay last Tuesday are to be airlifted to Metro Manila Friday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said the bodies of the four had been brought to a funeral parlor, even as the remains of Filipino tour guide Jerome Berin were brought to his home for a wake.

While it did not name them, the NDRRMC said the foreign fatalities included two German men, a German woman, and a female Spanish national residing in Germany.

The five bodies had been brought down to the Tactical Operations Group from the volcano by two Philippine Air Force helicopters at 1:40 p.m. Thursday.

On the other hand, a composite team with injured Thai climber Boonchai Jattupompong is trying to "slowly but safely" transport the victim through steep and unstable terrain toward lower grounds and an open area.

Upon reaching that area, an Air Force helicopter can extricate the injured climber.
