Palace: Aquino to make announcements on posts for Lacson, Pangilinan

President Benigno Aquino III will be the one to make the announcement on new posts for outgoing senators Panfilo Lacson and Francis Pangilinan, Malacañang said Saturday.

 

In an interview on government-run dzRB radio, presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the details of the posts for the two outgoing lawmakers are still being worked out.

 

“Kung may mabubuo, si Pangulong Aquino na mismo magaanunsyo (Once the details are finalized, Aquino will be the one to make the announcement),” he said on government-run dzRB radio.

 

Aquino earlier said he is likely to give Lacson and Pangilinan government posts once they finish serving their terms as senators on June 30.

 

Lacson and Pangilinan are ending their second consecutive terms this year. The Constitution allows senators only two consecutive six-year terms.

 

When asked what posts Aquino will give the two, Lacierda declined to answer for now.

 

“So far wala pa. Nasabi ni Pangulong Aquino nag-usap na sila ni Senators Lacson and Pangilinan (So far I cannot say what the posts will be. Aquino had said he will talk to Lacson and Pangilinan),” he said.

 

He also declined to answer questions about a possible reshuffle if the two outgoing senators are to join Aquino’s Cabinet.

 

“We don’t know what positions will be offered them, so I cannot answer that,” he said.  — ELR, GMA News
