During a press conference on Thursday, Malacañang thanked the 885 inmates from the Pampanga Provincial Jail for voluntarily giving up their meal allowance for three consecutive breakfasts for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

The amount the jail management saved from the skipped meals, combined with personal donations from the inmates, totaled to P53,425.

On the other hand, international relief for Yolanda victims has so far reached P13.09 billion as of posting time based on the Foreign Aid Transparency Hub (FAiTH) website.

Of this amount, P7.5 billion is in the form of cash while P5.6 billion came in kind or services.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the number of fatalities stood at 4,011, with 18,557 injured and 1,602 still missing. —KG, GMA News
