Death toll in PNP’s war on drugs now at 2,170

The number of drug suspects killed during the government's anti-drug operations has climbed to 2,170 since July 1 last year, data from the Philippine National Police showed .

In its latest update on Monday, the PNP also said that it has so far conducted 40,479 police operations, resulting in the arrest of 43,285 drug suspects.

A total of 5,949,282 houses have been visited by the police of part of the government's "Project Tokhang."

Through the visits, 1,016,374 drug personalities have surrendered: 75,082 of them are drug pushers, and 941,292 are drug users.

Under Oplan Tokhang, police personnel knock on the houses of drug suspects and appeal to them to surrender.

Meanwhile, 21 policemen and three soldiers have already been killed during anti-drug operations, while 61 policemen and eight soldiers have been wounded. —NB, GMA News
