Duterte says Joma Sison very sick, may come home and not be arrested

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga—President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday revealed that he told his peace negotiators with the communists to inform Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison to come home.

In a speech before the Prosecutors League of the Philippines, Duterte said that Sison is “very sick.”

“I just had a talk with the—before pagbaba dito. Dureza and Bello called me. Sabi ko na, ‘You tell Sison—because he is sick, he is very sick—he can come home. I will give him freedom of movement. I will not arrest him. I’ll even pay for his hospitalization kung gusto niya,” he said.

Peace Adviser Secretary Jesus Dureza and government peace panel and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello are in the Netherlands for the fourth round of negotiations with the reds.

But Duterte said that he wanted the communists to stop collecting revolutionary tax, release all prisoners of war, and cease claiming territory to pursue the peace talks. —NB, GMA News
