The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday filed rebellion charges against two suspected Abu Sayyaf members who were arrested for allegedly providing medical assistance to injured militants engaged in a gun battle with government troops in Marawi City.

Jadzrie Harad Saabdula and Jamal Kalib Jamil were charged before the Misamis Oriental Regional Trial Court after state prosecutors found probable cause to indict them in connection with the attacks in Marawi.

The two underwent inquest proceedings last Saturday inside Camp Evangelista in Cagayan De Oro City.

The DOJ said Saabdula, a nurse in Sulu, and Jamil were nabbed while they were buying a large volume of medicines such as pain reliever and antibiotics at a pharmacy in Pagadian City. — MDM/KVD, GMA News
