Sara snaps back at Trillanes: World knows dad’s issues, you didn’t?

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Friday hit back at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, accusing him of lying when he said he did not know President Rodrigo Duterte was a “murderer” and a “thief” when he sought the then Davao mayor’s help for the 2016 elections.

“Na-confine ka ba ng matagal sa mental [hospital]? Alam na ng buong mundo ang isyu, pero ikaw hindi mo pa rin alam? You are lying,” the mayor and daughter of the president wrote on an Instagram post.

Sara posted a selfie with a caption containing election years between 1995 and 2017, each with a list of “issues” involving the President and former mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

“Election issues ad nauseum,” Mayor Sara Carpio wrote in many of the years she listed. Based on her list, her father was also involved in “goons, gold and girls,” as well as issues of vulgarity and political dynasty.

Mayor Sara's retort against Trillanes, posted Friday morning, is the newest tirade in a verbal tussle with three opposition senators that erupted on Thursday, when she called Senators Trillanes, Risa Hontiveros, and Francis Pangilinan “opportunists” and “plastic” after they allegedly sought help from the Duterte family during the elections, only to criticize them now.

Trillanes, in response to Sara's tirade said, “Ang mga panunumbat ni Mayor Sara Duterte ay nung hindi ko pa kilalang mamamatay tao at magnanakaw ang tatay niyang si Presidente Duterte. Iba na ngayon, alam ko na ang katotohanan.”

Hontiveros and Pangilinan both said they value “service” and “duty to country” over “loyalty” and “debt of gratitude.”

Sara dares Trillanes: Prove you’re not lying

Since she was on the subject of lying, Sara said, she challenged Trillanes to substantiate his allegations about the wealth of the Duterte family.

“Maiba pa tayo, since now we have established lying, prove to everybody that piece of shit paper of bank accounts you are waving around is not fake, Pinocchio.”

She added that Trillanes is hiding behind parliamentary immunity as he hurls accusations against the President and the first family.

Also, she said that she would not back down from a fight—“If you made VP Binay go away without a fight, ang babae na Bisaya hindi umaatras. Kayang-kaya ko makipag away ng tatlong dekada, laking Mindanao ako. Kung ang Presidente ng Pilipinas ay inaaway ko, ikaw pa ba?” 

“Don’t ask us to prove you wrong, prove first na hindi ka nagsisinungaling,” she added.

Trillanes had accused Duterte and his family of having billions of pesos in undeclared wealth, a claim which the President repeatedly denied.

Acting on Trillanes’ complaint, the Office of the Ombudsman later ordered a probe on the Duterte family’s bank accounts.

Groups have been calling on Duterte to sign bank secrecy waivers that would allow scrutiny of his bank transactions.
