Singapore PM arrives in PHL for ASEAN Summit

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrived in the Philippines on Sunday afternoon to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings.

The plane carrying Loong landed at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga at past 1:00 p.m.

He is the sixth ASEAN leader to arrive in the country joining Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Lao People's Democractic Republic (PDR) Prime Minister Thoungloun Sisoulith, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Loong, a retired general of the Singapore Armed Forces, has effectively been the head of the country since 2004.

In December 2016, Loong met with President Rodrigo Duterte wherein the two leaders agreed to pursue the fight against terrorism and illegal drugs. —with Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas/ALG, GMA News
