Duterte to appoint Bato as next BuCor chief

President Rodrigo Duterte will appoint Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa as director general of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) after his retirement.

Duterte made the remark at the Christmas party he hosted for the Malacañang press on Tuesday night.

Dela Rosa had said he had already accepted Duterte's offer to put him in the "most challenging job in the government

"I don't run away from challenges lalong lalo na kung ang magbigay sa akin ng challenge ay 'yung mga tao na pinakarespetado ko na tao. Talagang I will take on the challenge. Hindi ko siya ipapahiya, gagawin ko ang lahat ng makakaya ko," he added.

Dela Rosa will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 in the PNP on Jan. 21, 2018.

BuCor is currently headed by retired police Chief Superintendent Valfrie Tabian as officer-in-charge. —ALG, GMA News
