Robredo leads Independence Day flag rites at Luneta

Vice President Leni Robredo led the flag-raising ceremony at Rizal Park in Manila on Tuesday as part of the celebration for the country's 120th Independence Day.

 

 

Super Radyo dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that Robredo also led the wreath-laying before the monument of national hero Jose Rizal in the presence of other government officials.

 

 

The program pushed through despite the gloomy and rainy weather, according to the report.

Cavite, San Juan

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte led the flag rites at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.

In San Juan, the Philippine flag was also raised at the San Juan City Hall.

Despite the rains, presidential guards laid a wreath at the Pinaglabanan Shrine in San Juan City. 

The shrine sits on the site of the first battle of the 1896 Philippine Revolution led by the Katipuneros against Spanish colonial rule.

Senator Loren Legarda and San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez led the Independence Day rites at Pinaglabanan Shrine.

 

Camp Crame, Bonifacio Shrine

Police officers observed the Independence Day by releasing some doves this morning, according to a Balitanghali report by Marisol Abdurahman.

Philippine National Police deputy director general Ramon Apolinario urged cops to follow their duties as security personnel of the country.

"Hangad ko na ang damdaming makabayan at malasakit sa kapwa ay mag-alab sa puso ng bawat kapulisan. Sa ating pakikipaglaban sa pagbabago, ating sundin ang sinumpaang tungkulin," Apolinario said.

Led by its chairman Danilo Lim, personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). meanwhile, laid a wreath at the Bonifacio Shrine in Caloocan City —Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas and Anna Felicia Bajo/KG/NB, GMA News
