More than 300 GCTA-freed convicts back in gov’t custody — PNP
A total of 353 convicts released due to the controversial good conduct time allowance (GCTA) law have turned themselves in to various police stations across the country, latest data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed Friday.
The PNP said the data was as of 6 a.m. of September 13. The tally of crimes committed by the convicts who have returned are as follows:
- Murder - 115
- Rape - 108
- Robbery with rape - 8
- Murder and robbery - 2
- Murder and Frustrated Murder - 11
- Attempted Rape with Homicide - 2
- Robbery with Homicide - 32
- Dangerous drugs - 16
- Parricide – 9
- Homicide – 20
- Carnapping – 1
- Carnapping with Homicide - 1
- Robbery – 2
- Rape with Homicide – 13
- Rape with Murder - 1
- Rape and Arson – 1
- Abduction with Rape - 1
- Kidnapping with murder - 1
- Frustrated homicide - 4
- Kidnapping - 2
- Gunban - 1
- Illegal Possession of Firearms - 1
- Theft - 1

The freed convicts have until September 19 to turn themselves in to authorities. If they fail to do so, the PNP will be forced to deploy tracker teams to hunt them.
This came after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the released prisoners to "surrender" and register with the Bureau of Corrections in 15 days, otherwise, they would be treated as "fugitives from justice."
Duterte also ordered the recomputation of the GCTA credits given to the thousands of inmates. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
