No relief order from Duterte, PNP chief Albayalde says

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Oscar Albayalde on Monday dismissed speculations that he received a relief order from President Rodrigo Duterte for his supposed involvement in drug recycling.

According to a report by Mariz Umali on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, Albayalde dismissed the issue as only a rumor.

The outgoing top cop said that he already had word with President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the matter.

Further, he explained that his testimonial parade was held over the weekend, more than a month before his retirement on November 8, to commemorate a significant event during his Philippine Military Academy years.

In 2014, Albayalde was relieved for command responsibility as provincial director of Pampanga after some of his subordinates were accused of having a hand in drug recycling.

He has since maintained his innocence on involvement in illegal drugs. — Dona Magsino/RSJ, GMA News
