Duterte: DND-led nat'l action plan to reinforce efforts vs. COVID-19
Agencies of the government led by the departments of national defense and of the interior and local governments are "ramping up" the implementation of a national action plan meant to reinforce efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Tuesday night.
In his address to the nation, the president said the NAP is chaired by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana while Interior Secretary Eduardo Año serves as the vice chairman.
The NAP will be implemented by the Departments of National Defense, the Interior and Local Government along with the armed forces and police, and Social Welfare and Development.
Duterte said the NAP will regularly report their progress.
“To the Filipino people, rest assured that your entire government is working hand in hand to safeguard your health, safety, and well-being in the face of the threat posed by COVID-19,” Duterte said.
The entire Luzon is under an enhanced community quarantine until April 13, temporarily affecting the income of thousands of Filipinos after mass public transportation was shut down.
Duterte assured the public that the government will provide them with essentials throughout the quarantine period.
“Supplies of food, water, and other essentials will be provided to you throughout this ordeal. Financial assistance will also be extended especially to those in the margins and the vulnerable groups. Halos lahat ho makatanggap,” he said. —NB, GMA News
