Nearly 800 cases of crimes against women have been recorded by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in areas under the enhanced community quarantine, President Rodrigo Duterte told Congress on Monday.

Duterte said 763 cases of crimes against women and 521 cases of crimes against children have been tallied by the police as of April 30.

The President’s report did not give further details.

He said the PNP women and children protection desks are “working closely” with local government units to ensure the protection of their rights and welfare during the quarantine period.

Strict confinement measures under the ECQ will remain in place until May 15 in Metro Manila, Central Luzon (except Aurora), CALABARZON, Pangasinan, Benguet, Albay, Bacolod City, Iloilo province, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Cebu province, Zamboanga City and Davao City.

The rest of the country is under general community quarantine.  -NB, GMA News
