Many SUCs will waive admission tests amid COVID-19 pandemic —CHED

Many state universities and colleges (SUCs) will waive entrance examinations for new students amid the COVID-19 situation in the country, according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Thursday.

De Vera said the set-up would depend on the health situation in different areas of the country.

Moreover, he said CHED is urging higher education institutions (HEIs) to consider using flexible learning which will employ digital and non-digital mediums, considering that not all students have access to the Internet.

HEIs which will use full online education may open anytime while those which will use flexible learning can open in August 2020, according to De Vera.

Those that need significant face-to-face mode of learning, on the other hand, are advised to open in September or later.

De Vera said CHED will continue to coordinate with the HEIs to review the conditions amid the health crisis.—AOL, GMA News
