Gamboa: PNP anti-cybercrime group probing PLDT Twitter account hacking

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group is looking into the hacking of the Twitter account of the customer service of the PLDT, Inc., PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said Friday.

"ACG is currently conducting the investigation. We might have a feedback in the days to come," Gamboa said at a virtual press briefing.

On Thursday, a group of hackers attacked the PLDT Customer Service account

with the handle @PLDT_Cares, and posted a series of tweets after changing the account name to "PLDT Doesn't Care."

In a later statement, PLDT said its account has already been recovered and is now "ready to serve."

The telecommunications company also noted that it is aware of the need for internet connections, especially in time of crisis. —LBG, GMA News
