4M names already validated by DILG for second tranche of cash aid

Almost four million beneficiaries for the second tranche of the government's Social Amelioration Program have already been validated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, its chief said on Monday.

"Sa ngayon, ang ulat sa akin ay four million names na po ang navalidate namin dito sa DILG at ito ay ipinapasa namin sa DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development),” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said at a press briefing.

President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the recommendation of the government’s COVID-19 task force to add five million low-income families as beneficiaries of the emergency subsidy program.

The national government said the distribution of the second tranche would be easier and faster as ATM debit cards as well as GCash and PayMaya will be used in distributing the money to the beneficiaries.

The DILG secretary vowed that the second tranche of the cash aid would be distributed this month.

Meanwhile, Año said some local government units are still in the process of handing the first tranche of the cash subsidy to beneficiaries. He, however, noted that the distribution is nearly finished.

"Ang ating unang tranche ay patapos na talaga at kaunting-kaunti na lang. Ang problema na lang natin talaga ay 'yung malalayong lugar, 'yung mga island. Pero within mainland, tapos na po tayo diyan," Año said.

"Kung titingnan po natin, siguro mayroong 100% na po tayo. We are now preparing for the second tranche," he added.

As of May 26, a total of 472 out of the 1,634 LGUs across the country have submitted their liquidation reports for the first tranche to the DILG. —AOL, GMA News
