Commuters, including elderly, still spend hours waiting for buses

Many commuters, including senior citizens, still had difficulty with public transportation despite the additional buses deployed in Metro Manila on Monday.

According to Ian Cruz’s report on “24 Oras,” some senior citizens had to wait for hours to get a ride on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City amid the general community quarantine.

Jesus Repaso said he waited for three hours in front of Sandiganbayan just to get a ride to the Land Transportation Office.

“Tatlong oras na. ‘Di makasakay, ang dami ng tao eh,” Repaso said.

Patricio Pagaran Jr., who also waited for three hours, said he had to endure the heat just to be able to catch a bus.

“Mainit po kasi pag binaril ako sa temperature, at tsaka saka tumaas pressure ko sasabihin na ano positive,” Pagaran said.

Virgilio Jimenez, meanwhile, had to walk to his destination because all the buses were already full.

“Mag-isang oras na eh. ‘Yong mga dumarating puno na sa dami ng pasahero. Bago dumating dito, hindi na sila nagpapasakay gawa ng kumpleto na,” Jimenez said.

Moreover, Francisco del Rosario, who waited for two hours, said there were still not enough buses despite the additional deployment of the government.
