DILG exec wants shame campaign against pandemic ‘pasaway’ Pinoys

An official from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) suggested a shame campaign against Filipinos who do not wear masks and obey health protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a “24 Oras Weekend” report on Sunday, Interior Undersecretary Martin Diño clarified that the shame campaign was not directed towards people who test positive for COVID-19.

A London-based group earlier found that 91 percent of Filipinos always wear masks whenever they go out while 83 percent regularly wash their hands with soap and water.

Diño also said that Oplan Kalinga, a house-to-house campaign that seeks to transfer COVID-19-positive individuals from their homes to quarantine facilities, will also serve as an awareness campaign.

He added that it may help neighbors of people with COVID-19 to take more precautions against the virus. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
