Ex-poll chief Abalos discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19, says son Benhur

Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr has been discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19, according to his son, former Mandaluyong mayor Benhur Abalos.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, the younger Abalos said his mother, Cora, who is also confined due to the same disease, is "doing very good."

"Ang good news naman, ang dad ko last night he was discharged," Benhur said, adding he was told by the doctor that the tubes on his mother will be removed within the day.

"Sabi sa akin ng doktor, Mayor papalitan namin yan [tubes], pero your mom is doing very good, tignan natin, obserbahan natin. So napakasaya ko po ngayong umaga [kasi] maya-maya po tatanggalin at sana dumire-diretso na po," he added.

on July 17.

Benhur noted this is a big development considering that his mom's conditioned worsened on July 19, incidentally his birthday.

Benhur said he was also tested positive for COVID-19 after he stayed with his parents at the hospital. He said he is feeling much better after he took a Chinese medicine given to him by former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos.

"On my part nag-body aches ako, nag-chills ako. Mabuti na lang itong kaibigan kong si Bongbong Marcos, binigyan ako ng gamot na Chinese medicine. Ininom ko agad yung apat. Paggising ko kinabukasan, pawis na pawis ako, lahat ng sintomas nawala," he narrated.

The erstwhile mayor said his dad is 84 years old while his mom, who has vascular dementia, is 79.

"Ibig sabihin po unti-unting nawawala memory niya," Benhur said. —KBK, GMA News
