Food delivery allowed 24/7 in Metro Manila under GCQ —MMDA official

MMDA guidelines on food delivery services Jojo Garcia

All 24/7 food delivery services are now allowed in the National Capital Region under the general community quarantine (GCQ), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager Jojo Garcia said.

In a Palace briefing on Thursday, Garcia said that even third party courier services will be allowed to operate for food delivery in Metro Manila.

“Ang atin pong mayors ng Metro Manila, majority of them, pinayagan na pong magbukas ang ating restaurants, fast food chains ng 24 hours sa delivery,” Garcia said.

“May mga partners ‘yang mga delivery na ‘yan ng mga pagkain. Hindi lang sila delivery na sa restaurant mismo, may mga third party ‘yan. So allowed 'yan. Ina-allow ng ating mayors,” he added.

With this, Garcia said the employees working in establishments permitted during GCQ will have better access to food.

Garcia said that most of the local government units in Metro Manila already issued an executive order allowing the food delivery services to operate in 24 hours.

He noted that the measure is already in effect.

Business establishments that were previously closed when Metro Manila reverted to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) resumed operations on Wednesday with the GCQ implementation.

The Department of Trade and Industry included dine-in services of restaurants and other food establishments at 50% capacity only.  —LBG, GMA News
