Duterte says gov’t to shoulder food, billeting for evicted health workers

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night said the government will shoulder the food and billeting expenses for health care workers evicted from their accommodations.

In his regular nationally televised briefing, Duterte urged health workers to get in touch with National Task Force COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. so the government can provide them with the necessary food and billeting.

“Kayong lahat na mga health care workers na pinapaalis sa inyong mga tinitirhan… because of the fear na mahawa ninyo ang may-ari at mga kasamahan ninyo, if this happens, you can call directly the office of Secretary Galvez and we will provide you the necessary billeting pati pagkain na,” Duterte said.

The president said the government will choose a place near where the health workers work.

He also jested that landlords and building owners evicting health workers should not be admitted in hospitals.

“Pasabi mo lang pangalan, may-ari ng building, boarding house, at I will call their attention publicly so that kung sila magkasakit, ‘wag na sila tanggapin sa ospital din,” Duterte said. — BM, GMA News
