Philippines sets aside P2.5B for COVID-19 vaccines in 2021 budget

A total of P2.5 billion will be allocated for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines under the proposed national budget for 2021, economic managers said

A total of P2.5 billion will be allocated for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines under the proposed national budget for 2021, economic managers said Wednesday.

During a Senate budget hearing, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado said the amount would fund the immunization of around 3.8 million poor Filipinos.

"Hindi po kalakihan 'yan but we have already agreed with the Department of Finance and even with the President that kung kinakailangan, there has to be a way that we can come up with a source of funds for this," Avisado said. -NB, GMA News
