DSWD: P82.2-B social amelioration distributed so far to 13.78M families in 2nd tranche

The Department of Social Welfare and Development on Friday said it has released a total of P82.2 billion to 13,784,904 families under the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program as of Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The DSWD said it will continue to give out the cash subsidy to qualified beneficiaries until it reaches its target.

It advised beneficiaries to await a text message advising them of the distribution of the cash subsidy in their area.

Meanwhile, the DSWD urged the public to report to the department if they know of anyone who received the subsidy but is not qualified.

“Magandang araw. Kung may kakilala kayo na hindi kwalipikado ngunit nakatanggap ng SAP, i-report sa DSWD upang agarang ma-validate ng Ahensya. Kung mapatunayan na hindi sila karapat-dapat ay kailangan nilang ibalik ang ayuda. Salamat po,” it said.

More than P200 billion was allotted for the Social Amelioration Program under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act (Bayanihan 1) to provide cash subsidy to some 18 million households. The cash subsidy was to be given in two tranches and is aimed at helping households cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the Bayanihan to Recover As One Act (Bayanihan 2) signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, cash subsidies ranging from P5,000 to P8,000 will be given to low-income households in areas under granular lockdown and those with recently returned overseas Filipino workers, as well as to displaced workers. —KG, GMA News
