Metro Manila residents wishing to go to Tagaytay still need travel authority —Eleazar

Tourists from Metro Manila who wish to go to Tagaytay City still need to present a travel authority to policemen manning checkpoints, Joint Task Force COVID Shield Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said on Monday.

At a Laging Handa press briefing, Eleazar said only the residents of Cavite province no longer need to present a travel authority when entering Tagaytay City. He said the national government has not changed its rule yet on the use of travel authority.

"While it is true na 'yung Tagaytay, dineclare ng LGU nila na hindi na kailangan ng travel pass pagpasok doon, 'yun po 'yung manggagaling ng Cavite. Kasi alam niyo po, sa atin ngayon, ang guideline ng national task force is that kung hindi ka APOR (authoried persons outside of residence) at ang lakad mo ay di related sa work mo, hindi pa rin tayo puwedeng lumiban, labas tayo ng probinsiya," Eleazar said.

"So that 'yung galing sa Metro Manila eh pag pupunta ng Cavite, eh dapat po may reason ka ng pagpunta doon. At kung hindi, dapat kukuha ka pa rin ng travel authority. Unless baguhin po 'yan ng national task force, 'yan pa rin po ang ating susundin," he added.

A travel authority is required if the travels are outside Metro Manila and outside their respective provinces based on the instruction of Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año.

On September 6, Tagaytay City administrator Gregorio Monreal announced that tourists are allowed in the city provided that they follow the minimum COVID-19 health standards, including physical distancing and wearing of face masks.

He said checkpoints at entry points to Tagaytay, which is under modified general community quarantine, would be maintained. —KBK, GMA News
