Less than 80% of DepEd modules distributed ahead of school opening

With only a week to go before the opening of classes, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday said it has distributed 79.86 percent of printed self-learning modules to students nationwide.

According to Mariz Umali’s report on “24 Oras,” the DepEd emphasized that this does not mean that they were unprepared for the upcoming school year.

“Hindi puwedeng husgahan ‘yung kahandaan just because hindi pa nakakarating si printed learning modules,” Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said.

DepEd said it aims to complete the distribution of learning modules within the week.

The Education Undersecretary added that the DepEd hoped that more students who have gadgets will make use of technology in the coming school years.

He explained that an internet connection was not needed since the modules could be given to students using a flash drive.

The DepEd earlier said that some 3 million students had yet to enroll ahead of the opening of classes on October 5. Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
