DSWD working with other agencies to identify Bayanihan 2 cash aid beneficiaries —Duterte

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is coordinating with other government bodies and agencies to help identify the recipients of COVID-19 emergency cash aid under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.

In his first monthly report to Congress submitted on Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte said the DSWD field offices have coordinated with regional offices of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and regional mechanisms of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in determining the areas under granular lockdown for the proper targeting of low-income family beneficiaries.

Under the law, cash subsidies ranging from P5,000 to P8,000 will be given to low-income households in areas under granular lockdown and to households with recently returned overseas Filipino workers, as well as to displaced workers.

The subsidy will be based on the prevailing regional minimum wage rates.

The President also said the DSWD is preparing special guidelines to further its COVID-19 response and recovery interventions.

He said the DSWD had consulted the Joint Oversight Committee of Congress to ensure the alignment of the provision of social amelioration measures. — BM, GMA News
