Roque declines to show RT-PCR test result confirming he is COVID-19 positive

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday turned down a request to show his RT-PCR test confirming he tested positive for COVID-19. 

Roque made the response when GMA News reporter Joseph Morong asked him to show his RT-PCR test result in the name of transparency. 

“I don’t think it is important,” he said. 

“I don’t see why [it is needed to be shown],” Roque added.

for COVID-19, a day after he had an RT-PCR test in preparation for a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte. 

Roque then said that he learned of his positive result when he was already in his office in Malacañang. He however maintained that other personnel were not exposed since he was alone in his office. 

The Palace official also reported on Tuesday that he is in an Oplan Kalinga quarantine facility where he also conducted his regular media briefing. 

Prior to testing positive for COVID-19, Roque said he tested negative for COVID-19 for 35 times. 

The Philippines on Monday reported another record high of 5,404 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total tally to 626,893.

Of this number, 53,479 are active, 560,577 recovered, and 12,837 died. —KG, GMA News
