Lacson backs construction of COVID-19 mega vaccination site in Nayong Pilipino

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday expressed support on the construction of COVID-19 mega vaccination site in Nayong Pilipino property in Parañaque City.

“Ano bang mas importante ipil-ipil o yung buhay ng Filipino (What is more important— the trees or the lives of the Filipinos)?” Lacson asked.

“That’s a no brainer and here’s a private company, a business, na nag-o-offer ng help, kasi, and rightly so, hindi naman ito ginagawa ni Mr. [Enrique Razon Jr.] only for the Filipino people. Remember he’s losing a lot because ang employees niya rin apektado rin,” he added.

The lawmaker said Razon is investing on this vaccination site to protect employees and to help in opening up the economy.

On Sunday, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. called on the board of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) to approve the construction of the planned mega vaccination site.

Galvez said the NPF Board of Trustees (NPFBT) has yet to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 for the construction of the mega vaccination site at the Nayong Pilipino.

The NPFBT expressed apprehension on the construction of the vaccination site given its impact on the environment as some 500 trees would have to be cut down to make space for the project.

The construction of the vaccination center will be shouldered by the Razon’s ICTSI Foundation, with Felino "Jun" Palafox as the architect.—AOL, GMA News
