Galvez: Over 7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered as of June 14, 2021

More than seven million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered as of June 14, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Tuesday.

“As of yesterday, June 14, we have already breached 7 million jabs administered,” Galvez said at a Senate hearing.

In his presentation, Galvez said a total of 7,045,380 doses have been administered from March 1 to June 14.

So far, there are 980,471 medical frontliners, 486,945 senior citizens, 429,301 person with comorbidities, and 7,067 essential workers who are fully vaccinated.

A total of 1,903,784 doses COVID-19 doses were used for their inoculation.

First doses

Meanwhile, 5,141,596 doses were administered as first doses for 1.452 million medical workers, 1.753 million senior citizens, 1.754 persons with comorbidities, and 182,130 essential workers.

Currently, there are 3,944 vaccination sites that are in place.

Of the 12,705,870 COVID-19 vaccines, 10,374,850 were already deployed to the vaccination sites.

In the same presentation, Galvez showed that the government already breached one million jabs per week in two consecutive weeks.

At the same hearing, Galvez said around 6.4 million COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers will arrive in the Philippines before June ends.

The incoming vaccines will fill the government’s target deliveries of 10,804,820 COVID-19 jabs for this month.

From February to May, the country had already received 8,329,050 COVID-19 doses.

Earlier, Galvez said the government expects to achieve its target of herd immunity in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces by November.

The government is eyeing the inoculation of at least 70% of the country's population to achieve herd immunity before the end of 2021.

Currently, the government started vaccinating the medical frontliners, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and the economic frontliners. — RSJ, GMA News
