Philippines receives over 500K more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine


Over half a million more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the Philippines on Friday, further boosting the country's vaccine supply.

According to the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF), the latest batch, composed of 575,800 doses, was procured by the private sector through the Dose of Hope Program.

According to the NTF, the vaccine doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 via Chinese airlines Flight CI701 at 9:35 a.m.

The arrival was personally welcomed by NTF implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., presidential adviser for entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, and AstraZeneca Philippines president Lotis Ramin.

As of Thursday, the NTF said a total of 41,515,350 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers have arrived in the country.

On Friday afternoon, 15,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine are also expected to arrive from Russia. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
