Galvez: Over 15M individuals vaccinated vs. COVID-19

More than 15 million individuals have been inoculated against COVID-19, Philippine vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez said Thursday.

Galvez provided updates on the government's vaccine rollout during the House committee on economic affairs inquiry on the multi-party agreements being entered by local government units and private sectors to procure vaccines.

Galvez said despite challenges and constraints, the vaccination process is still on track.

He said a total of 52,792,130 COVID-19 doses have been received, of which a total of 37,176,513 doses have been administered.

He said a total of 15,837,799 individuals have been fully-inoculated against COVID-19.

According to Galvez, the Philippines is expecting to receive more than 61 million vaccines this month and in October as the deliveries of Sinovac, Pfizer, and US-COVAX donations become more steady.

Galvez said the government aims to achieve a 70% fully-vaccinated population for Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Cagayan de Oro City, and other risk areas by the end of October.

He added that the government wants to achieve at least 50% first dose to the rest of the region by the end of October. — RSJ, GMA News
