Palace: Wait for Duterte to name choice for VP

President Rodrigo Duterte will personally make an announcement on his vice presidential bet for the 2022 polls, Malacañang said Friday.

Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles made the response when asked if the president will support the 2022 vice presidential bid of his daughter, Davao City mayor Sara Duterte.

Sara is running under Lakas-CMD party, but her running mate is presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. who is the standard bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

"Marami pong public engagements is Pangulong Duterte. Bigyan natin siya ng pagkakataon na magsalita tungkol diyan at sa iba pang bagay (The President has a lot of public engagements. Let us give him a chance to speak on these matters)," Nograles said.

The President earlier endorsed the 2022 presidential bid of his long-time aide and Senator Christopher "Bong" Go.

"I am not into politicking. But let me just state for the record and in no uncertain terms that ang kandidato ko pagka-presidente ay si Bong Go [my candidate for president is Bong Go]," Duterte said during a meeting with national and regional task force to end local communist armed conflict in Mindoro. 

The President met with administration lawmakers on Tuesday night, November 16, but the Palace has said that it was an informal, relaxed, and politics-free gathering.—LDF, GMA News
