Comelec: Over 65M projected voters for Eleksyon 2022


At least 65.5 million voters are expected to cast their votes during the 2022 national and local elections, Commission on Elections spokesperson James Jimenez announced Thursday.

At a hybrid press conference, Jimenez said the registration period for Eleksyon 2022 added 8,147,080 voters. The figure includes those who reactivated their registration with Comelec.

"As of today, the projected number of voters for 2022 stands at 65.5 million. Throughout the entire registration process, we added to the list of voters a total of 8,147,080," he said.

In terms of new registrants, Jimenez said there are 4,094,614 new voters aged 18 to 21 years old.

Majority of those new registrants belong to the 21 year old age group with 750,578 males and 796,891 females.

Meanwhile, the number of new registrants who just turned 18 stands at 171,033.

These figures are the latest data the Comelec has released since the end of the voter registration period.
