75% of BI personnel vaccinated vs. COVID-19 —spox

The Bureau of Immigration has vaccinated majority of its personnel against COVID-19, an official said Friday.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval estimated that about 75% of their personnel have been inoculated against the infection, most of which are frontline workers stationed at seaports and airports.

“I think mga 75% na yung vaccinated sa amin. Karamihan po diyan yung mga nasa frontline namin, so we’re happy to report that yung mga naka-deploy po natin sa airports and seaports are vaccinated already,” Sandoval said in a radio interview.

(I think around 75% have been vaccinated. Most of them are frontliners. So we’re happy to report that those deployed at our airports and seaports are vaccinated already.)

Sandoval said the agency is seeking to completely vaccinate its personnel by the end of the year.

“Most of those who have not been vaccinated yet, ‘yun po ‘yung mga nag-aantay na lamang ng kanilang mga schedule o kaya ‘yung wala pang clearance from their doctors,” she said.

(Most of those who have not yet been vaccinated are those who are waiting for their schedules or have yet to receive clearance from their doctors.)

“[W]e’re pushing po sana na makuha natin yung [to get the] 100% vaccination rate by the end of the year,” she later added.

According to Sandoval, more than 300 personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 while “a handful” had succumbed to it.

“At least karamihan po doon sa nagkaroon ng COVID natin ay nagsurvive po or are recovering or have already recovered,” she said.

(But most of those who tested positive are recovering or have already recovered.)

The Philippines on Thursday reported 975 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,829,618. —KBK, GMA News
