Philippines logs 838 new COVID-19 infections; case count at 2,831,807

The Department of Health on Sunday reported 838 new COVID-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to 2,831,807.

The new cases brought the country's active case count to 16,630, of which 47.8% are mild, 7.1% are symptomatic, 15.2% are severe, and 6.5% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,766,816 after 1,217 more patients defeated the viral disease.

The death toll rose to 48,361 with 156 new fatalities.

The country's positivity rate was at 2.4%. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 34,241.

The DOH noted that 13 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 195 cases found to have tested negative have been removed from the total case count.

Moreover, 117 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH also said two laboratories were not operational on November 26.

The latest data from the DOH also showed that 27% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 16% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 27% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 20% of the ventilators are in use. — DVM, GMA News
