Philippines logs 425 new COVID-19 cases, lowest since July 2020

The Philippines on Tuesday recorded the lowest daily number of COVID-19 infections since July 2020 as the Department of Health reported 425 new cases, bringing the total tally to 2,832,734.

It is also the seventh straight day the country registered less than 1,000 daily COVID-19 cases.

The DOH said two laboratories were not operational on November 28, while four laboratories were not able to submit their data.

The new cases brought the country's active cases to 15,800, of which 47.5% are mild, 5.3% are asymptomatic, 16% are severe, and 6.8% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,768,389 after 909 more patients defeated the viral disease.

The death toll climbed to 48,545 with 44 new fatalities.

The country's positivity rate was at 2.1%. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 24,442.

The DOH noted that three duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 63 cases found to have tested negative have also been removed.

Meanwhile, 40 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Latest data from the DOH also showed that 27% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 19% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 25% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 17% of the ventilators are in use.—AOL, GMA News
