Over 7.6M vaccinated vs. COVID-19 during 3-day drive —NVOC

The Philippines vaccinated over 7.6 million individuals against COVID-19 during the three-day national vaccination drive, almost meeting the 9 million target, the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) announced Thursday.

NVOC chairperson and Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said around 2.7 million were vaccinated on the first day, 2.4 million on the second day, and another 2.4 million on the third day.

Of the 7.6 million, 85% received their first dose, 3% received booster doses, while the remaining were minors and those who received their second doses.

“Hindi pa ho kumpleto ‘yung ating mga report, may updating that is happening but we are very happy with the initial report kasi this is more than 2 times the daily vaccination rate,” Cabotaje said at the Laging Handa briefing.

According to Cabotaje, the top-performing regions were Region IV-A, Region III, and Region VII while the top-performing provinces were Cavite, Laguna, and Cebu.

Meanwhile, regions that exceeded their targets include Region I, the National Capital Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, MIMAROPA, and Region II.

However, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao reported low vaccination rate while the Davao Region did not meet its target, which it did not adjust when the government lowered its target from 15 million to 9 million.

“Mababa din ang Davao because ‘yung kanilang targets ay hindi nila binabaan. They were very close to the original targets nung tayo ay nag target ng 15 million per day,” Cabotaje said.

Cabotaje said the government has extended the vaccination drive until Friday, December 3, in order to sustain the public enthusiasm to get vaccinated following the requests of some local government units. —KBK, GMA News
