Comelec: Over 100 party-list groups denied registration for Eleksyon 2022

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has denied the applications of over 100 party-list groups that had sought to participate in the May 2022 polls.

The poll body said it rejected the motions for reconsideration filed by 107 party-list groups, according to Comelec Resolution 10735 issued on December 1.

Nurses United, Ang Tanod, LGBTQ Plus, Solo Parents, Bahay Kubo, Pasahero, Pesante, and Ayuda were among those rejected by the Comelec. 

Thirteen party-list groups, meanwhile, have pending incidents such as former Presidential Communications assistant secretary Mocha Uson’s Mothers for Change, former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority spokesperson Celine Pialago’s Malasakit Movement, and celebrity chef Boy Logro’s Aangat Kusinerong Pinoy.

The Comelec has allowed 165 party-list groups to participate in the raffle on December 10 to determine their order of listing on the official ballot.

“Participation in the raffle is without prejudice to the resolution of the pending incidents and the exclusion on the official ballot, if applicable,” the resolution stated.

“At any time, prior to the publication of the final listing, the commission has the authority to exclude any party-list groups, organizations, or coalitions subject to the pending incidents,” it added.
