PNP: Only less than 1% remain unvaccinated vs. COVID-19 among police personnel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said only less than 1% of its personnel have yet to be vaccinated against COVID-19, which made it nearer to its 100% vaccination target.

As of December 5, only 965 or 0.43% of the 222,000-strong PNP remain unvaccinated without offering any legitimate justification, it said.

Meanwhile, 865 personnel remain unvaccinated due to valid reasons such as allergic reaction and medical condition.

“Slowly, we are seeing that there is a narrowing of the gap between those vaccinated and unvaccinated personnel," PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said.

"We hope to convince every member of the more than 222,000 PNP force to be vaccinated to protect themselves and their family from the virus threat,” he added.

The PNP said booster shots were given last week to some personnel serving on the medical frontline.

"Aside from the benefits of the vaccine, the PNP would also like to avoid the eventuality of prohibiting their unvaccinated personnel from reporting to duty in accord with the IATF resolution on the no vax, no work rule," the PNP said in a press release. —KG, GMA News
