Army: Robin Padilla, Herbert Bautista, other reservists running in 2022 polls relieved from posts

The Philippine Army on Tuesday identified seven reserve officers who have been relieved from their positions as they pursue elective posts next year.

In an update, Army spokesperson Colonel Xerxes Trinidad said the relieved officers are the following:

  • Colonel Isidro Ungab  – former brigade commander of 2002nd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade (RRIBde) in Davao City
  • Lieutenant Colonel John Tracy Cagas - former commanding officer of 1101st Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn) in Davao del Sur
  • Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Balitang - former commanding officer of 1404th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion in Ifugao
  • Brigadier General Herbert Bautista - former brigade commander of 1502nd RRIBde in the National Capital Region
  • Lieutenant Colonel Jayvee Tyron Uy - former commanding officer of 1103rd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion in Davao de Oro

  • Captain Robin Padilla – former chairperson, Strategic Communication (StratCom) committee, Philippine Army Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board
  • Lieutenant Colonel  Rhodora Cadiao – former commanding officer of 602nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion in Antique

Padilla and Bautista are running for senator in the May 2022 elections.

Ungab is seeking reelection as Davao City's third district representative.

Balitang filed his candidacy for congressman of Ifugao while Cagas, Uy, and Cadiao are running for Davao del Sur representative, Davao de Oro vice governor, and Antique governor, respectively.

"We have proven that together with the Philippine National Police, the military is a dependable deputy of the Comelec (Commission on Elections) in ensuring that we have a fair election,” Lieutenant General Andres Centino, commanding general of the Philippine Army and concurrent Armed Forces chief of staff, said.

"We assure the public that as a professional organization, the military will be non-partisan. We will perform our mandate of ensuring fair elections," he added. — VBL, GMA News
