The National Capital Region (NCR) is now at minimal risk for COVID-19 with an average daily attack rate of 0.87 per 100,000 individuals, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday.

Minimal risk means that the ADAR is less than one.

“The National Capital Region is now at minimal risk case classification,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at a media briefing.

Vergeire also said that NCR has a negative 2-week growth rate of -62%.

NCR recorded a bed utilization rate of 21.11%, a mechanical ventilator utilization rate of 16.82%, and an ICU utilization rate of 29.31%.

According to Vergeire, all areas in NCR are at minimal to low-risk case classification with a negative 2-week growth rate.

San Juan, Las Piñas, Taguig, Pasay, Mandaluyong, and Pasig are at low risk while Quezon City, Makait, Parañaque, Manila, Valenzuela, Navotas, Marikina, Malabon, Muntinlupa, Caloocan, and Pateros are at minimal risk.

Vergeire said that San Juan, Pasig, Paraãnque, Valenzuela, and Malabon all showed a positive one-week growth rate.

Three provinces under monitoring

Meanwhile, the DOH is monitoring Eastern Samar, Western Samar, and Zamboanga Sibugay after these showed positive 1-week and 2-week growth rates.

“Eastern Samar has a high-risk 2-week growth rate which places the province under moderate risk-based classification. While Western Samar and Zamboanga Sibugay is only under a low-risk case classification,” Vergeire said.

Data showed that Eastern Samar recorded a 333.33% 2-week growth rate, Western Samar recorded a 4.88% 2-week growth rate, and Zamboanga Sibugay recorded a 51.11% 2-week growth rate.

“All of these three provinces maintain an ADAR of less than 1 per 100,000 population and low utilization rates,” Vergeire added. — RSJ, GMA News
